PAIR OF ANTIQUE FRENCH SAINT CHRISTOPHER DASHBOARD BADGES - UNSIGNED
Couple of antique St. Christopher dashboard badges with an engraving attributed to Wicker, noted French engraver of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He produced luxury pieces, commonly found in dashboards of Royal cars, or decorating Cartier 's fine watches.
The piece on top was originally crafted in silver plated bronze with an intricate chiseling work to create the attachment points. Was commercialized by many car accessories firms of the era, like Établissements Raynaud & Bourceret and described in their catalogs of 1911-1912. Measures 50mm. Condition: worn out with no traces of silver plating.
The piece on bottom is more simple, but with still a great engraving detail. Like the other, it features the Zodiac signs around the Saint 's image. Measures 40mm. Condition: Good with a great patina.
Both badges have similar examples photographed and described in Maximiliano Garay 's book " Saint Christophe -  dashboard badges of the golden era of motoring ", on page 176.
