For your consideration is a nice view identified on the reverse label as "Wachusett House, Princeton, Mass., P.A. Beaman & Son, Proprietors". This is a great
look at the hotel with stagecoaches and people stopped in front. Note the sign above the first row of windows. It was photographed by D. C. Osborn. The image is light, there is edge wear to the mount and some overall soiling.
Please view the enlargeable scans carefully and contact me with any questions.
From the Princeton Historical Society:
Built in 1822 and was moved in 1824 while a new house was built by John Brooks.
Wachusett House was purchased in 1859 by P. A. Beaman. In 1861 a bowling alley and laundry were added with a barn added in 1864.
During the fall, winter and spring of 1869-70 Wachusett House was jacked up to create a new ground floor.
In 1883 the Wachusett Cottage next door on Boylston Ave. was remolded.
The hotel and annex could accommodate 200 people per weekend.
It burned on 11/28/1910.
